As of April 4th, 2016 Accessorytree will be partnering with Trees for the Future in an effort to plant a new future.

If you aren’t already familiar with the organization, Trees for the Future started with Dave and Grace Deppner in the early 1970s. While serving as volunteers in the Philippines, Dave and Grace witnessed first-hand the devastation caused by deforestation and unsustainable land management systems. The Deppners, working with community leaders in nearby villages, found a way to offer sustainability. The team restored degraded lands by providing farmers with such provisions as tree seeds, technical training, and on-site planning assistance. Enthusiasm struck home, and people responded by joining in to bring restoration to their homes and way of life.

After returning home from their mission they continued what they had started, communicating by mail with rural community leaders, providing information, seeds, and training materials. After many years of unconventional operations, Trees for the Future (‘TREES’) was incorporated as a 501 © (3) public charity in Maryland on August 14, 1989. In the following years TREES has played a vital role in restoring thousands of communities by planting millions of trees in 19 countries including Ghana, which has now been restored to life to a land that was previously degraded and abandoned.

At present, our partnership with Trees for the Future has tree-planting efforts in sub-Saharan Africa in Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, and Tanzania. TREES has planted in an incredible range of environments from coastal areas to mountains, restoring soil that had been unproductive for decades or even hundreds of years. Our new goal as a business is to set an example for other small business and corporations. Accessorytree has planted 10,000 trees and established a long and fruitful partnership with TREES. As of April 1, 2016 Accessorytree has officially joined the cause by donating a tree for every order that is placed.

Accessorytree buys used and returned products and restores them to the best of their efforts and resells them online at a discounted rate. A lot of people think that when they return a product it goes right back on the shelf, but some of those products depending on the condition may end up in the discard section. When a discarded product reaches a distribution center, manufacturer or wholesaler it eventually find its way to a landfill. Our “castoff purchases” or discarded products are mostly still in working condition. To those that are either defective or damaged beyond repair are sent to recycling management programs or materials recovery facilities to be salvaged before being sent to manufacturers who reuse the materials to make new products.

Trees for the Future has been around for over 15+ years. Their dreams of making a better world by planting trees and helping the environment is a vision that both organizations seem to strongly share. With every order that is placed you are helping the environment by planting a seed for a better future.
